• Over 1700 children die each year in drowning accidents.
• In eighteen states, drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 14 years old.
• Approximately 20% of children who are hospitalized for near drowning sustain permanent brain damage.

• Following the proper procedure when reporting an emergency can mean the difference between an immediate or delayed response.
• 9-1-1 should be used for life threatening emergencies only!

• Over the last fire years there have been 6,922 wildland fires in California, destroying 130,000 acres of land.
• 90% of all wildland fires are the result of human carelessness.
• 16% are due to arson.
• 27% are due to misuse of equipment.
