Extinguishers
  • Portable fire extinguishers can be a useful firefighting tool, but proper training is required in order for people to use extinguishers safely and effectively.
Hunt for Home Hazards
  • Most fire deaths and the majority of fire injuries occur in residences.
  • Regular home inspections for possible fire hazards significantly reduce the chances of a fire occurring.
Kitchen Safety
  • Microwaves are more convenient and generally considered safer than conventional cooking appliances.
However, certain food products if improperly heated, can become sources of bum injuries.
  • The most common cause of burns associated with microwave use is scalds from either hot liquids or steam.
  • The greatest number of scald bums occur in the home - in the kitchen.
