Welcome. Our purpose in putting
this information on the Web is to increase your understanding of the Inspection,
Investigation, Residential and Business Services, Emergency Response, and Regulatory
Programs of the Office of the Fire Marshal of the San Bernardino County Fire Department.
It can also direct you to some of the many resources available to you through this
Office.
The Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) has a unique position within the Fire Department
as the Inspection, Investigation, and Regulatory function of the County Fire Department.
While active in emergency preparedness and response to fires and hazardous materials
incidents, it also accomplishes the vital purpose of preventing emergencies through
the education and enforcement of health and safety laws and regulations. The
OFM also prevents emergencies by helping small businesses and residences to properly
manage and eliminate hazardous materials and other hazards from homes and businesses.
With a staff of approximately 100 members, the Office of the Fire Marshal works
as a team to protect life, property, and the environment for the health and safety
of both present and future generations. The Office of the Fire Marshal includes
the Hazardous Materials Division and the Community Safety Division.
