Station 46 is located in the
community of Harvard (NE of Barstow). Daily staffing consists
of 3 personnel: a full-time Captain, and two paid-call
firefighters. They are augmented as needed by other PCFs who
live in the local area. The fire apparatus here are: one ICS
Type 1 structure engine (E46), one ICS Type 4 Brush Patrol
unit with 4-wheel drive (BP46), and one Type 3 Brush Fire
Engine (BE46). The on-duty crew responds the most appropriate
apparatus to the incident.
This is a key station supporting the heavily traveled I-15 corridor between Barstow and Baker. Station 46 crews also respond to a large portion of the I-40 freeway including the Ludlow area. Through automatic and mutual aid agreements, they assist adjacent fire departments such as Daggett, Newberry Springs, Yermo, Barstow, and the Barstow Marine Corps Logistics Base. |
