The San Bernardino County Fire
Department Training Division combines one of the biggest and best training facilities
with an

arsenal of superior training programs that make it second to none in Southern California.
We offer a variety of specialized programs at all skill levels, from entry-level
to top executives. Courses can be conducted at our state of the art facilities,
or delivered in the field in subject areas of Municipal Firefighting, Wild land
Firefighting, Incident Command and Management, Hazardous Materials, Rescue, Emergency
Medical, Urban Search and Rescue, Air Crash Rescue and Firefighting, Emergency Operations
Center Training, Confined Space, Auto Extrication, and Flammable Gas and Liquid
Firefighting. The live drill facility offers hands on live fire, collapsed
buildings, tunnel systems, and hazardous materials, live actions props as well as
a full size 727 aircraft. This live action training offers lessons that
will not be forgotten.
The Training Division has delivered more than 100,000 hours of training this fiscal
year.

We have trained fire service personnel from all over Southern California as well
as law enforcement, airport personnel, district attorneys, military personnel, hospitals,
schools, U.S. Customs, and many more. The division includes a highly trained and
specialized cadre of State Certified Instructors including two State Certified Master
Instructors.
The division maintains the training and certification for all of the Countys
Fire Department personnel and has established new certification levels in wild land
training and implements all mandated State and Federal Training. This division also
provides certified Emergency Scene Safety Officers for all second alarm or greater
incidents as well as for a Type II Federal Management Team.

The department drill facilities provide the only State Certified Fire Control III
utilizing fixed facility propane fueled live fire with class "A" combustible
augmentation.
The department also provides FAA Part 139 training in Fire Control 5 (State of California)
Aircraft Fire Fighting and provides annual certification training for airports up
to index C and is working with the F.A.A. through a J.P.A. formed with San Bernardino
Valley College District, San Bernardino City Fire, and San Bernardino County Fire
to build a state of the art air crash rescue 7.5 million dollar training facility.
Annual U.S.A.R. and Haz-Mat drills are held at the training center for the County
of San Bernardino. The Training Division is also involved in the Explorers Academy
and with Y.E.S. Camp, which benefits the youth of San Bernardino County. Also held
at the training center is Crafton Hills College Fire Academy, which utilizes the
drill ground and the staff at the training center. The department supplies the Academy
Operations Officer and provides three fire academies a year. The academy runs 10
weeks, 480 hours each.
