Swift Water Rescue Training

February 24 – Over the course of a three day period, San Bernardino County Fire’s Swift Water Rescue teams practiced their rescue skills and techniques. The frigid, swift moving waters of the spillway near the Mojave River Forks Dam in Hesperia made for a perfect place for such an exercise.

Fifty firefighters braved the elements and practiced water channel rescue and rope system rescues. Swift Water Rescue is one of the most dangerous rescues performed by firefighters.

San Bernardino County Fire reminds you to adhere to detour signs and take extra precautions during inclement weather. Do not drive through roadways with fast moving water, as the roadway underneath may be washed away. For more safety tips, click here.
