Public Safety Join Forces
June 13 - The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol
are partnering with the San Bernardino County Fire Department to provide a Law Enforcement
Satellite Station in the community of El Mirage at Fire Station #11, 2929 El Mirage
Road.
The Satellite Station will benefit the community and serve many purposes. The facility
will provide law enforcement a location to complete reports, conduct interviews
and allows for access to computers; in turn providing more law enforcement presence
in the community. In addition, the station will be staffed Tuesdays and Thursdays
from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., with San Bernardino County Sheriff Citizen Volunteers who
will be available to answer questions. Citizen Volunteers will also be available
for extra patrol in the El Mirage area and conduct vacation checks, and will play
an active role in community events.
Citizen Volunteers are not only the eyes and ears for law enforcement; they play
a valuable role in the fire service. Quick and accurate reporting of a fire or suspicious
activity can mean the difference between life and death, as well as the loss of
property.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department are also providing a work space at County
Fire Station #14 in Wrightwood for County Sheriff deputies to conduct interviews
and write reports. This facility will not be open to the public, but will allow
deputies to conduct police business without having to return to the Phelan Station.
This is another example of public safety agencies working together to benefit the
community and the citizens we serve.
