April - Fire Prevention Supervisor Joe Zuccaro was honored recently as the annual inductee to the Victor Valley College Alumni Hall of Fame.

Zuccaro graduated from Victor Valley College with a degree in Electronics and one in Fire Technology and has put those to use in his long career in the fire service. He began as a PCF 27 years ago, and is now Fire Prevention Supervisor and Fire Marshal in the Victorville Division of the San Bernardino County Fire Department. He received the “Firefighter of the Year Award” in 1991 and, the San Bernardino County Chiefs Association recognized him in 1996 as “Overachiever of the Year.” To commend his achievement of being an inductee to the Alumni Hall of Fame, Zuccaro also received a resolution from San Bernardino County First District Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt, lauding his “decades of meritorious service to local fire departments.”

He is a member of the United States Air Force Reserve, and served as a combat photographer at March Air Reserve Base in Riverside. Zuccaro studied photography at the Defense Department school in Florida and his photographs have been published around the world. But – ever humble – when he learned of the award, Zuccaro said, “I … never thought that I would be on the other end of the camera!”
