July 23 - A quick response from San Bernardino County Firefighters helped contain a house fire on the 14000 block of Dos Palmas in Victorville early Friday morning. At 3:25 am, fire crews arrived at the abandoned home to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the front porch area, and with an aggressive attack, were able to subdue the flames within minutes. Although boarded up, the home appeared to be used by transients, however no one was found in or near the structure at the time the fire crews arrived. Three engines, a ladder truck, a brush patrol, Battalion Chief and Fire Investigator responded to the incident, with a total of 16 fire personnel responding to the blaze. The cause of the fire is suspicious in nature and still under investigation. Damage is estimated at $50,000 and there were no injuries.
