Fire Capt. Dan Munsey believes in standardizing
procedures across all of County Fire’s divisions
over the county’s 20,000 square miles. He also
believes the standard to be met is the one in
the department’s vision statement: to make County
Fire a “premier provider of fire services in
Southern California.”
Munsey, who specializes in career development in
County Fire’s Training Division, was named County
Fire’s Award of Excellence winner. He was recognized,
along with Award of Excellence winners from each of
the county government’s other departments, at the
Board of Supervisors meeting on May 8.
Munsey was recognized for his work and leadership in
the design and implementation of the Engineer’s and
Captain’s Academies last year, and of the Firefighters’
Tower instruction and evaluation program this year, as
well as for his service as an Incident Safety Officer
on major fires, including the Sawtooth blaze last year,
which burned 62,000 acres of desert and mountain lands.
