At
2:58 a.m. on September 17th, EZ Mart liquor
store located on the corner of a strip mall,
caught fire. Upon arrival of firefighters, the
business was fully involved. Flames quickly
spread through the common attic to three other
adjacent businesses. Shortly after, the roof of
the facility collapsed.
Approximately 60 firefighters from San
Bernardino County, Colton & Rialto Fire, along
with Riverside County Fire were able to keep the
fire from spreading to an adjacent trailer park,
bringing the fire under control in about 1 ½
hours.
All four business, the EZ Mart Liquor Store, a
florist shop (not yet open for business), G.T.
Hair & Nail Salon, and A-1 Drycleaners, were a
complete loss.
All business were closed at the time of the
Incident. One firefighter sustained a minor leg
injury and was taken to Loma Linda University
Medical Center, where he was treated and
released.
San Bernardino County Fire Investigators along
with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office
are investigating the incident.
