Early on March 25, 2008, a corner apartment on the upper level of an 8-unit, 2-story apartment complex in Hesperia caught fire. Upon arrival of firefighters, the bedroom of the apartment was fully involved and the fire was quickly spreading throughout the apartment.
With an aggressive attack, firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading through the common attic space into the adjacent apartments. Approximately 35 firefighters from San Bernardino County, Apple Valley and Victorville Fire Departments were able to contain the fire within an hour.
The initial apartment is a complete loss, and other apartments received smoke and water damage. All residents were able to escape without injury. The American Red Cross is assisting the 27 displaced residents. The incident is under investigation.
