On June 4th at 12:51 a.m., firefighters responded to a pallet fire at Sancor Woodworks on Valley Blvd. in Fontana.
The fire had quickly spread to an adjacent trucking company business and destroyed a pick-up truck, a mobile office trailer, and damaged another trailer. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were able to keep the fire from damaging any other portion of this business. There was no damage to the business on the other side of the pallet yard, as firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to that location. A small workshop located in the center of the pallet yard was also destroyed.
Facing downed power lines that had fallen on top of a chain link fence, 28 firefighters were able to extinguish the pallet fire within an hour. Nearby residents reported hearing loud explosions coming from the location. The explosions were caused when the fire made contact with several stored propane tanks.
There were no injuries or evacuations. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire is not believed to have started due to lightning.
