A
San Bernardino County Sheriff's Deputy on
routine patrol spotted a house on fire at about
10:30 p.m. on July 16. His radio report resulted
in an immediate response by San Bernardino
County Fire Department units and Mohave Valley
Fire Department units from Arizona. When
firefighters arrived, the house was fully
engulfed in flames and the fire was spreading to
surrounding vegetation. Firefighters stopped the
fire's forward progress almost imediately and
the blaze was contained to the structure in less
than an hour.
One firefighter suffered a torn knee ligament,
but there were no other injuries to civilians or
firefighters. About 30 firefighters responded. County Fire
sent an engine and brush patrol, and Mohave
valley sent and engine. An ambulance from
Needles Ambulance was also on-scene.
The cause of the fire was determined to be arson
and the investigation is currently ongoing with
County Fire Investigators and detectives of the
S.B. County Sheriff's Arson/Bomb team
participating.
